Liquid Penetrant & Magnetic Particle

Course Description This course provides the student with 16 hours of training in the Liquid Penetrant Testing method and 24 hours Training in the Magnetic Particle Testing methods Level I (1) & II (2) over one comprehensive week long session. The student will learn the concepts of both liquid penetrant and Magnetic Particle Testing methods and have a working knowledge of each of their application. The laboratory portion of the course will train the student to set up and properly maintain PT and MT systems, and enable them to develop and apply techniques in accordance with customer/industry specifications and standards.

Advanced Radiographic Interpretation

Advanced Radiographic Interpretation Machine

Course Description This course is intended for RT L-II (2) personnel that will be advancing into the interpretation of casting for critical service items such as structural aerospace and gas turbine engine components, or other safety critical components. In addition to study of the unique properties of advanced materials, the student will learn to recognize the unique requirements associated with the radiographic interpretation and disposition of high performance materials. Radiographic interpretation of select radiographs and the application of ASTM Radiographic Reference standards will enhance the student’s skill level, accuracy, and confidence. This session can also be customized to include Customer specifics and standards. The student will be challenged with various interpretation scenarios and problem solving using radiographs and actual standards commonly used within the industry.

Qualification upon satisfactory completion: This course is intended to augment or refresh RT Level II (2) qualification with 24 hours of advanced, formal instruction.

RT Level 1 Training

Course Description

Within this 40 hour course for RT Level I, the student will learn the fundamentals of industrial radiography; explore all RT contemporary applications, equipment, process controls, limitations, and basic radiation safety. The laboratory portion of the course provides simulations for conventional x-ray techniques, process control basics, and Digital Radiography (CR and DDA) imaging demonstrations. Prior hands-on experience is recommended, but not mandatory.

Qualification upon completion This training program will meet the qualification requirements as specified by ASNT SNT-TC-1A and NAS410 requirements for formal classroom training for RT Level I.

RT Level 2 Training

Course Description This course provides the student with 40 hours of training in the Radiographic Testing (RT) Level II method.

Part 1 - The student will initially review RT Level I basics: radiation safety, equipment, consumables, and process controls.

Part 2 – The student will receive in-depth training for industry specifications, procedures and standards. In-depth material processes and RT inspection disposition is also studied and reinforced. Students will also perform a front-to-back RT simulation with a sample test specimen of their choice. Comprehensive digital imaging modalities are also analyzed. The student will be able to identify typical radiographic indications and discontinuities and become acquainted with interpretation procedure, recognize essential quality controls within the method, and establish practical RT technique parameters. Prior completion of a 40 hour RT Level I program is highly recommended.

Qualification upon completion This training program will meet all qualification requirements as specified by ASNT SNT-TC-1A and NAS410 requirements for formal classroom training for RT Level II.

Industrial Radiography Radiation Safety

Digital Radiography NDT hands-on training

(Level 2 RT certification highly recommended)

Course Description The Digital Radiography course consist of 40 hours of contemporary training for the student in Digital Radiography: Computed Radiography (CR), and aSi Detector Imaging (DDA or DR) is emphasized. The student will be guided through digital radiographic applications, imaging conversions, equipment specificity, image quality requirements, performance evaluations, and imaging optimization. Image optimization encompasses refinements of images through exposure control, system geometry, and digital imaging processing. Considerable time in the session includes demonstrations and simulation with our dedicated CR and DDA systems, promoting the students perspective and understanding. RT Level II certification at a minimum is highly recommended for this course.

Qualification upon completion This training program is intended to fulfill anticipated RT Digital Level III or II qualification requirements for digital radiographic inspection personnel and includes subject matter listed as a requirement by FWGDR (Federal Working Group Digital Radiography) and the MAIC (Materials affordability Initiative Consortium).

Computed Radiography (CR)

CR Level 2 training

Course Description The CR 40 hour formal training course is designed to introduce the certified RT Level II radiographer to contemporary CR systems characteristics, capabilities, and operation and also encompasses general CR theory, applications, and industry requirements. System performance requirements and proper technique development will be simulated with dedicated CR equipment. Digital image processing, interpretation, and archival are also studied. Previous CR experience is not required, but RT Level II experience is highly recommended.

Qualification upon satisfactory completion This training program fulfills the additional classroom training required for current RT Level II personnel as required by ASNT SNT-TC-1A and NAS410 for qualification in Radiographic Testing "Computed Radiography" CR.

Digital Detector Array (DDA) Radiography

Course Description Forty hours of formal training is provided for RT L2’s in the DDAR Level II course. Students are introduced to DDA applications, highlighting aSi-TFT (amorphous silicon-thin film transistor) flat panel detector specifics, implementation, and operation. Proper system calibrations and benchmarking for image quality are emphasized using state-of-the-art software and hardware in the training laboratory. System automation and current industry requirements will complete the session. Previous DDA experience is not required, but RT Level II experience is highly recommended.

In addition to study of the unique properties of these materials, the student will learn to recognize the unique requirements associated with the interpretation and disposition of high performance cast metals imagery including: artifact vs. discontinuity verification, diffraction recognition and verification, radiographic quality, component techniques and coverage, acceptance criteria discontinuity gauging, and casting upgrade. Radiographic interpretation of assorted investment casting radiographs with known artifacts, discontinuities, and defects will enhance the student’s skill level and confidence in this demanding inspection environment. This session can also be customized to include customer specifics and standards.

Thermal Joining Radiographic Interpretation

Thickness Testing

Course Description A comprehensive class on the use of digital thickness devices with A-Scan capabilities for those personnel only required to perform this type of ultrasonic measurement. This 24 hour class complies with SNT-TC1A Table 6.3.1 for Level II limited certification. Students are given a short review of the fundamentals of ultrasonic testing technology including a hands-on component to get the inspector up to speed quickly. Students are welcome to bring in their own instrumentation during the class for additional instruction value.

Ultrasonic NDT Training

Course Description Quality Management Systems Auditing AS 9100/Nadcap This is a 16 hour class during which the student will participate in 8 hours of classroom instruction including workshops, quizzes and question/answer sessions. During the second day the student will use the five phases of auditing in a group setting and conduct an audit as described. The final day 2 time will be dedicated to formalizing the audit into a professional report. Course content includes:
